Hands-On with the DJI Power 1000

Power and Charging

DJI power 1000 charging ports

The DJI Power 1000 sets itself apart with its robust features and versatile charging options. The dual PD 3.1 USB-C ports are particularly impressive, offering up to 280W total output, sufficient to fast charge high-demand devices like a 16-inch MacBook Pro.

DJI’s website states that the DJI Power 1000 can charge a mobile phone 57 time ,a laptop 9 times, and a speaker 64 times.

In my testing, it stood up to charging both an iPhone and MacBook simultaneously with very low noise output and only moderate battery consumption – and charging both devices as fast as I would expect directly from a wall outlet.

Design and Portability

DJI power 1000 carrying case

For personal use, its sleek design and the optional protective storage case make it easy to transport and use in various settings, from remote work locations to weekend camping trips.

Although the DJI Power 1000, like other portable power stations its size, has handles on either side of its base, power stations of this size can sometimes be awkward to carry in front of your body, especially if your destination requires a long trek.

The protective storage case makes it easy to carry around like a carry-on bag and makes it manageable to even carry both the DJI power station and solar panels in a single hand.

Solar Power Compatibility

zignes solar panels

During my review of the DJI Power 1000, I had the opportunity to pair it with a set of solar panels from the DJI-certified brand, Zignes. These panels support a maximum solar power input of 800 W and proved remarkably efficient, fully recharging the power station in approximately 2-3 hours, though this will depend on sunlight availability.

Setting up the Zignes solar panels was a breeze; they were straightforward to connect to the DJI Power 1000 using the provided adapter cable. On a sunny day, the charging process was impressively quick, enhancing the portability and convenience of maintaining power supply without relying on grid electricity.

Safety and Reliability

Its safety features are top-notch, with 11 temperature sensors and an intelligent battery management system ensuring optimal performance under various conditions.

The unit’s ability to function as a UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply) provides seamless power continuity, an essential feature during unexpected power outages. While I don’t experience many power outages in my area, when I do it is good to know that my backup battery is UPS-equipped for security devices.

FAQs

It weighs 13 kg or 28.7 lbs, which can be heavy for some people to carry for long distances. However, it is much easier to carry with its protective carrying case.

Absolutely, it can handle a refrigerator, microwave, and even more simultaneously without a hitch.

Yes, it’s perfect for daily use with its robust build and extensive cycle life, suitable for both indoor and outdoor settings.

Alternatives

While the DJI Power 1000 is exceptional, if you’re looking for something lighter or with a smaller budget, consider the Bluetti AC70. It offers good capacity and power output but at a lighter weight and lower cost, though it doesn’t match the DJI’s maximum output or advanced features.

Final Thoughts
