When a 747 is in flight, it burns 1 gallon of fuel every second, which is why it’s important to develop airplane technology which would make them lighter, and therefore more fuel efficient.

To solve this problem, GE has developed a new airplane motor, the GEnx, which will make for much lighter and quieter airplanes. Watch the introduction video below to find out why the GEnx motor will have a huge impact on the amount of fuel required to fly a commercial airplane.
