It may be remembered that BMW recently deployed a connected car telematic, and communications system, branded as ConnectedDrive. The system allows users to access useful real-time navigation, and other relevant data while driving. Now, the system’s communications matrix has been enhanced further by the integration of active screen icons displaying electrical plug-in locations owned and/or operated on the basis of a new domestic licensing agreement between Car Charging Group, Inc (CCGI), and BMW North America .

CCGI, better colloquially known, as ‘CarCharging’, is a national provider of publicly accessed electrical recharging facilities extending from the East to the West coasts. The parent company operates from its headquartered in Miami Florida, in addition to regional administrative offices located in New York, Arizona and California.

CCGI offers commercial or residential property owners an ability to acquire turn-key CarCharging systems that, in turn, can be operated on the basis of an innovative revenue-sharing model. Further, and in conjunction with CCGI subsidiary The Blink Network, commercial and residential users are also offered the ability to execute out-right purchase of CarCharging recharging equipment, along with the sale of maintenance programs for go forward support.

“We are proud to support BMW to include real time information for our EV charging stations.” said Michael D. Farkas CEO for CarCharging, “

“Just as we witnessed the transition of cellular phones from limited analog functions, such as texting and voicemail, to the enhanced digital functionality of today’s smart phones, providing BMW i drivers with direct access to station details from their EV or mobile device serves as evidence of the digitization of the automobile.”

Currently CarCharging operates facilities through the contiguous United States including, but not limited to, facilities co-operated, or owned, by Walgreens; IKEA, Wal-Mart, Simon Property Group, Equity One, Equity Residential, Forest City, Cinemark USA, Fox Studios, Facebook, Kimpton Hotels and Restaurants, Mayo Clinic, the San Diego Padres, the University of Pennsylvania, CVS, Related Management, the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission, the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection, the City of Phoenix, the City of Philadelphia, and the City of Miami Beach.
