Hybrid TugBoatWhile everyone is fussing over new hybrid cars, or electric cars, nobody ever thinks about a few captains and sailors that want to start cruising in eco-friendly ships. All of the ports want to keep their water cleaner, and also save money on the massive fuel consumption that is tied to boats. Enter Foss Maritime Co. of Seattle who has developed the first Hybrid Tugboat. Described as the “Prius of tugboats,” the ship uses less diesel than a traditional tugboat by using batteries for all of the low power usages on the ship. A harbor near you may just be getting greener next year.
