Cars first came into mass production over 100 years ago, and since then they have evolved a heck of a lot in terms of design and technology. One of the main improvements that have been consistent through history in automobile production – and due to the limitations of oil and fuel resources – has been fuel efficiency. Not only so motorists can save money on fuel consumption, but also to reduce CO2 emissions and protect the environment.

This creatively illustrated infographic highlights the most significant changes and major improvements in the evolution of the car, all the way from the Ford Model T to the 2012 Chevrolet Volt.

By using some very interesting data and statistics, we can visualize a performance comparison to see how modern cars outperform older models. We also get a glimpse into the design and performance of electric and hybrid vehicles, which are now coming into mass production and will one day not so far away, become the dominant car technology used by motorists.
