Remember a couple of months ago when Google was getting slammed for their energy consumption per search (which ended up to be bogus)? Well Facebook is the next internet-giant to come under fire for their energy usage. Although it’s free for you or anyone you know to upload and look at as many pictures as you want, somewhere it’s using a lot of energy, and costing someone a lot of money. In this case, about $1 million per month in electricity alone – not to mention the $500,000 or more in bandwidth.

So even though it’s convenient to keep all of your photos and videos uploaded on Facebook, it might not be very environmentally friendly.
