Google has just announced its entry into the industry, hoping to provide home and business owners with the tools to measure the energy consumption of every appliance they use. And Google doesn’t just want to enter the industry, they want to revolutionize it: they want to provide a simple software solution that will deliver all of your energy consumption statistics right to your computer for easy reading. Currently, there’s no Smart Meters that provide the information to the consumer. Google knows the average home’s energy consumption will drop significantly if the consumer can see where the most energy is being used, and how it can be lowered.
