This week, Whirlpool walked away with two iF Product Design Awards for their Glamour Oven and, more importantly, their GREENKITCHEN design concept.This week, Whirlpool walked away with two iF Product Design Awards for their Glamour Oven and, more importantly, their GREENKITCHEN design concept. The new kitchen design is meant to reduce waste in your kitchen, and help save energy. The idea is to use the water and heat generated from appliances like your fridge or your oven to help fuel other appliances, like your dishwasher. It’s estimated that a system such as the one proposed by Whirlpool will be able to save your kitchen about 24% of your normal energy consumption. Specific details of the all-in-one concept haven’t been revealed yet, but it would be good to see some new additions like a trash compacter, built in odour-free compost, and maybe even a digital grocery list while they’re at it!
