Hot on the heels of Power Shift 2011, a group of 5,000 activists are planning to rally for action on climate change and clean energy at the White House in Washington D.C., tomorrow morning (April 18) at 10 am.
Rally at the White House for the Planet
The rally is being led up by Richard Trumka of the AFL-CIO, Cherri Foytlin of Gulf Change, Bill McKibben of 350.org with the primary goal of making big polluters pay. Specifically calling out BP for last year’s disaster in the Gulf, the rally tomorrow plan to protest the US Chamber of Commerce, as it ” serves as a front group for Big Polluters”.
The expected group of 5,000 is going to make their voices heard to Congress, and make it clear that we need to uphold the Clean Air Act and demand responsible actions and more significant environmental actions from polluters.
Where the Climate Change Rally is taking place
The climate change rally is starting at Lafayette Square at 10am. Once the group is assembled they are moving to the Chamber of Commerce for 11:45am, and after that they will march to the offices of BP for a rally at 12pm.
