A new poll released by the Climate Action Network shows that, despite the economic downturn, two thirds of Canadians still expect the government to take action against global warming.A new poll released by the Climate Action Network shows that, despite the economic downturn, two thirds of Canadians still expect the government to take action against global warming. This news comes hot on the heels of a speech by Canada’s new Environment Minister who said he is not going to “aggravate an already weakening economy in the name of environmental progress.” The survey was conducted over the phone by the United Church of Canada, Greenpeace, the Climate Action Network, and the Pembina Institute to get a better idea about how Canadians feel about the UN climate meetings going on right now. In the end, it shows that most Canadians oppose the stance that Prime Minister Harper’s government is taking on the environment. For the full results of the survey, click here.
