Most people have a spare flashlight they keep in case of a blackout or emergency, but how much cooler would it be to have solar powered emergency lamps available all around your home? That’s the idea behind Will McLeod‘s concept for a solar powered emergency lamp. On the top of each of the 3 legs are solar panels, and when the lights go out a blue light on the bottom emits a low signal light, so you can find where it is in the dark. When you flip it upside down (like this) the main white LEDs light up and unleash the full power of the lamp. The only problem I can see is having to go outside to get the lamps when you find out the power is down. Definitely not a good back-up plan for the winter, but if you’re looking for something cool to keep by the pool this summer, a design like this might be right for you.
