A recent survey showed that 92% of Ikea customers didn’t want the plastic bag. So, in true Ikea fashion, the company has ridded itself of something unnecessary and unwanted, and switched to strictly recyclable options. In March 2007, Ikea took steps to reduce the number of plastic bags they used and promoted their recyclable blue bags, but the overwhelming approval of the system has given them the go-ahead to cut plastic out completely. As of yesterday, you can no longer get a plastic bag at Ikea. Kudos to the environmental furniture store.
