The developer of the EcoSmart energy management platform featuring Recovery Time™ technology, Telkonet, Inc., has announced that EcoSmart energy management systems have been installed at three Hilton Worldwide hotels in the Greater Chicago area that will reduce energy consumption by 35 percent. Telkonet’s Recovery Time system is one of a kind with its intelligent thermostats that save energy in a room by controlling temperatures when a room is unoccupied, without burdening the guest.
“Sustainability has become an important criterion for both leisure and business customers when selecting a hotel,” said Frank Allgauer, co-owner of the three hotels, in a press release. “Telkonet’s EcoSmart system allows us to be sustainable without impacting the guest experience, which is what many of our travelers want to see. There’s an interest in ‘going green,’ but not at the expense of room comfort.”
The three hotels—the Hilton Northbrook, the Hilton Lisle/Naperville, and the DoubleTree Alsip— have also included Telkonet’s “Green Button” feature to provide additional energy savings. This button allows guests to be actively eco-friendly: The button lets guests adjust the setback temperatures and the length of Recovery Time.
“There is no fixed setback temperature,” said Brandon Husko, Chief Operating Officer of Green to Guest, in a statement. “EcoSmart’s Recovery Time™ calculates dynamic setback temperatures for individual rooms – it’s simple, yet sophisticated. I stand behind the technology 100%.”
