Could fungi actually be used as an eco-friendly packaging material strong enough to replace styrofoam? Ecovative Design thinks so, and is working to create two types of revolutionary fungi-based materials dubbed ‘Acorn’ and ‘Greensulate’.
Could fungi actually be used as an eco-friendly packaging material strong enough to replace styrofoam? Ecovative Design thinks so, and is working to create two types of revolutionary fungi-based materials dubbed ‘Acorn’ and ‘Greensulate’. Acorn is made from agricultural waste materials, is 100% compostable, but is able to stand up and protect heavy or fragile items. Greensulate is a replacement for expanded polystyrene used between walls in buildings. By using an eco-friendly insulation, your overall energy consumption will be much lower, making your home a greener place.
