At last year’s TEDxTuscon event, Dave Follette gave a talk on the topic of gigawatt-scale solar power (embedded below), and why it’s not being implemented throughout Arizona, the most optimal area for generating energy from the sun across the United States.

Although concentrated solar is by no means a new invention, Dave’s talk does a great job of breaking down the barrier to having the alternative energy technology widely adopted.

Check out the great TED talk by Dave below, for great insights into implementing concentrated solar projects using mirrors to achieve gigawatt-scale solar power.

This year’s TEDxTuscon event is scheduled for November 10, 2011. If you’re in the area, be sure to get your tickets in advance so you can catch more great talks, like Dave Follette’s.
