unplug your stuff

A few weeks ago we were excited to bring you a contest put together by the Ontario Power Authority and the WWF. Now, we’re trying to promote a similar contest encouraging youths to unplug their stuff, and aptly called Unplug Your Stuff!

By now we’ve heard all about phantom power – the energy used by appliances even when they’re shut off – and now it’s time for us to do something about it. When you’re done watching TV, don’t just turn the set off and not the cable – unplug them both. Same thing with your iPod chargers. Even if you’re using an energy efficient MacBook Pro, you should still unplug it when it’s charged or you’re not using it.

But everyone realizes changing your lifestyle and reconfiguring your brain to not just use the Power-Off button takes some commitment. That’s why the OPA and WWF have teamed up again with some pretty great prize opportunities for teens who commit to unplugging their stuff.

Here’s what’s up for grabs:

  • MP3 Players
  • Eco Skateboards
  • Gift Cards
  • A concert in Toronto of your choice

Check out the Unplug Your Stuff Facebook page to see how you can get involved and start winning some of these prizes.
