Did you know that up to 15% of your home’s energy bill could be coming from appliances that aren’t in use? It’s called “phantom power” and it’s a bigger problem than we would expect. A simple power bar can make a big difference.

An organization called Power Pledge realizes this, and wants to help people make a change in their lives. They’re doing so by launching a new loyalty program along with the Ontario Power Authority and WWF Canada. We’ve teamed up with them to provide our readers with a great energy-saving gift basket, which includes one automatic shut-off power bar!

Here’s what it contains:

  • A power bar with automatic shutoff to reduce phantom power
  • 1,000 Bonus Air Miles (this could get you $140 in grocery gift certificates, movie tickets or even a 3 piece luggage set)
  • A cute & cuddly toy panda from WWF-Canada
  • Cold water laundry detergent

The prize basket will certainly help any homeowner save some energy around the home, and provide a great motivation to cut energy consumption in other parts of your lives.
