In the last year or so, Prince Charles has become a great advocate for environmental issues. He’s appeared as a speaker in hologram form in lieu of flying unnecessarily, he’s pushed India to create organic farms, and now he’s starting a 10 day tour of South America to promote energy efficiency. Charles warned against doing nothing, for it would lead to a new form of environmental refugees, decimated economies, and social instability. Chile, where he spoke Monday, is seeing the dangers of global warming first hand as their glaciers shrink and melt away before our eyes. His powerful speeches are certainly making an impact around the globe, and tomorrow in Brazil he is expected to warn that we have less than 100 months to act before the effects of climate change are irreversible. With Charles’ help, we can hope to do something before then.
