Bicycle CommuteHere’s something that may have gone unnoticed alongside the $700 billion bailout and the energy and tax provisions bundled with it – starting in January, bicyclers will receive a $20 federal tax cut that is intended to go towards maintaining, repairing, or buying bicycles. This kind of “commuter equality” has upset cyclists for some time, as people who walk to work, or ride public transit, already received a tax break like this for years. However, many of the cyclist supporters have been upset that the bill has been passed alongside a bailout plan that hurts them in many other ways. Not much of a reason to celebrate right now, but it surely will be in the future.
