Toyota SolarThe Toyota plant in Ontario, California has just completed the largest single-roof solar installation in North America with the help of SunPower Corporation. You may remember a similar story we ran about GM launching the world’s largest roof in Spain, and it’s because of the GM roof that Toyota’s championship is limited to North America. However, their achievement is nothing to scoff at: the solar panels are going to be able to produce 60% of the power that is needed by the auto manufacturing plant, and will eliminate roughly 6.4 million pounds of carbon dioxide every year. Now that the 10,417 solar panels have been installed, we just have to wait until October when the 2.3 megawatt system gets flicked on.
