This year’s season finale of American Idol will be going green by powering the Nokia Theatre (where the show is taped) in L.A. entirely with renewable energy. E-Village will be installing a high-performance solar system for the event, but by purchasing power through LADWP’s “Green Power for a Green L.A.” program, the theatre will also be powered by wind and hydropower. Green Daily also reports that the solar panels provided by E-Village won’t be staying under FOX’s possession for long, but will instead be donated to a local California school at the end of May. American Idol has taken to humanitarian causes this year, beginning with a charity event for Africa titled “Idol Gives Back”, and continuing with raising awareness about environmental issues. But it’s going to take a lot more than an environmental twist to get me to ever watch this show.
