NYC is one of the last places you would expect to see a chunk of the rainforest in, but Amazonia Brasil plans to change that. A 13,000 square foot interactive exhibit is being launched at South Street Seaport today, in celebration of Earth Day, and will be showcased for the next 3 months. This event is meant to teach people the importance that the rainforest plays in our daily lives, and how important it is to live sustainably so that we do not have to destroy any more of the Amazon. In order to promote this great event, pedicabs are offering free trips to the event from many locations in the city – so you have no reason to miss it. Keep reading for more information on this event, and the Amazon Rainforest.

One of the co-creators of Amazonia Brasil, Dr. Eugenio Scannavino Neto, had this to say about the event:

“Amazonia Brasil is a mystical transformation that allows visitors of all ages to see, smell and experience first-hand the beauties of the rainforest. These exhibits help New Yorkers understand the environmental and social value of the Amazon and enable them to make positive changes to protect their own environment.”

The event does more than simply showcase how important the rainforest is to us, though. It also teaches the history of the area and the cultures and demographics that have thrived within it. Altogether, this seems like a great event, so if you happen to be in the NYC area over the next 3 months, make sure you check it out!
