This growth represents the growing demand for alternatives due to health, ethical and environmental concerns. About 42% of Americans have made New Year’s resolutions to include more vegetables on their plates, with health concerns, ecological consciousness and animal welfare considerations driving this shift. 

The trend is similar internationally. Countries like the United Kingdom, Germany, Australia and China also report notable increases in adopting plant-based diets. As consumers become more aware of the implications of their food choices, the numbers speak volumes about the growing popularity and widespread acceptance of this sustainable lifestyle choice.

As scientists continue to research this possibility, it may become a viable option to meet global protein demands without harming animals or the environment.
