Every caring parent understands that safety of the kid’s room is the first and most important factor of home design.

Unprotected child’s body is exposed to the harmful effects of various toxins, radiation and bacteria.

Our goal is to make the interior of our kids’ rooms as eco friendly as possible and diminish the dangerous effects of hazardous materials.

Floor

Selection of eco-friendly floor materials is probably one of the crucial stages of a child’s room decoration.

As you know, children spend most of their time in the room, and almost always they stay in direct contact with the floor: they play, draw, or simply lie on it. The goal of adults is to make sure that the cover is most environmentally friendly and safe for the young health.

Moreover, it has to be practical enough  to survive after children’s “crash tests”. Do not forget that the baby’s room should be cleaned more frequently than all the  other spaces in apartment, and frequent washing also diminishes material’s lifetime.

Floor coverings made of wood (plank flooring, parquet flooring), and cork flooring are definitely the most environmentally clean and safe.

Parquet is a covering made of wooden slats, connected by locks. Its material is made of elm, oak, birch and other hardwood trees. Wood has several important eco-friendly advantages: it does not impede air exchange, and thus preserves the optimal indoor climate.

Wood has excellent heat and sound insulating properties. It is an absolutely natural material! When the flooring is installed according to all the rules, it will wear out very slowly if you give it a good care.  Another undisputable advantage of wooden flooring  is that their natural beauty creates a special atmosphere of comfort and warmth in the kid’s room.

Windows

Eco design presumes the installation of wooden windows; as well as the floor, they highly influence the quality of the room air. Natural materials are the best guarantee of the kid’s health and prevention of allergies.

Walls

Design of the walls needs to meet several requirements:

  • Environmentally-friendly. It’s desirable to use natural materials rather than synthetic.
  • Security –  materials should be non-toxic and unable to cause allergies.
  • Practical – this is not mandatory, but a highly desired feature. Remember, kids love to write on the walls or even nibble their pieces.

You can use wallpaper or paint. Paper walls are the most popular option – low cost and variety of colors is a significant plus. It’s great to use natural wallpapers made of herbs.

The fabric for these are: bamboo, rattan, cork, jute, cane, sisal and more than two hundred other natural materials. They “breathe” and maintain the optimum level of humidity in the room. In comparison with other types of wallpaper these have excellent sound insolation. Another obvious advantage is that natural wallpapers have bactericidal properties and are anti static.

Caring atmosphere is the best design for the kid’s room. Eco-friendly materials and loving attitude are the best insurance of a healthy future for your child.
